FallFor a while it will seem
as if I was never coming back,
like summer or a childhood dream.
Your toes twist in the September sand
and the chill reminds you
that some thoughtless time,
some apple-scented eve
the old dog will growl low,
the night shadows stir;
moths will dart desperate
through an open door--
and you will watch solitude disappear
like broken, restless love.

Haikus Beer and the Graveyarda bottle of beer
dead rising, worn-out in stone
graves and i at home

a small epitaph
lonely empty bottles rest
at the foot of dead

intoxication
dead don't mind, anyhow, and
i'm too much alive

cheers to the last day
you spent on earth, Dear William,
here! we'll celebrate

a sober person
hark! you are ambling past me
good samaritan

the beer is empty
the sun is nearly dying
time to leave the dead

when you read thisthe ignoble lottery of your eyes
has drawn me out of lots again.

i am never sought, but fashioned.
i will always match your blemishment.

ours is the age of...

ours is the age of looking through straws
gloved fingers bring to the eye a cage
the mind receives the numbing sting
and wakes to the churning of the seas

something is not right in the structure of law
for the bubble is the extent of our sight
at the edges stalks destruction so subtle
but no heads swivel during swaying night walks

and the books burn as frenzied fingers tear out favorite pages
and the grounds churn as culture names the golden apple's crooks
and slowly all the children are coming to learn
why gaze upon humanity's numerous flaws
when you can look at the world
through the hole of a straw

Don't let her whisper your name.I would be lying if I said I forgot.
Lying, if I said I don't want to feel it again.
It's irresistible.
It's uncontrollable.
It's almost unexplainable.

It's our dance.

I never had to teach.
She never needed to learn.
The synchrony was always perfect.
From the first second to the last one.
Every single time.

A simple touch,
a simple breath,
a simple desire,
and the world would explode.

So we were in a universe apart.
Dancing, an unknown song.
We never rehearsed it, it never went wrong.
It's just like I said.
The synchrony was always perfect.

As if we could feel each other.
As if we were created for each other.
Do you beli

stomachedyou blush and bruise
with sidewalks, stones,
the quiet doorways in your thighs

and the weight of your purple
tongue against mine
(a carnival of teeth)

if you swallowed the moon
with your agate jaws,
you could not be more nacreous
or divine

fluencythe writer, in bed,
ponders the hushing fricatives
of denim on cotton,
the liquid linguistics
of hips and ribs and delicate
vertebra; and catalogues--files away
for later--
every shaking aspirant and every
quiet, arched-throat glottal stop,
and the way it all just
rolls
so perfectly
off the tongue.

Carpe DiemIf I were to die,
could I touch the sky?
Or maybe grab a star?

If I were to die,
would you cry?
Well, I wouldn't let you.

If I live,
will you help me?
Carpe diem!
(And all that.)

Carpe diem,
live life.

But I'll take one of those stars,
while you're at it.

The sign of a poetI write in stanzas
But hate to speak in rhyme
Though, I still do it
Most of the time

My handwriting's not the best
Yet you'd think it would
I write fairly often
But it's still not that good...

All of my emotions
Become a work of art
Good and bad critiques
Help me play my part

SasakiI pray in paper
cranes, hidden
hopes between the folds.

Drowning InstinctTwenty seconds
And there's no air

I can't, says her body
And her empty lungs agree

I can't do this anymore.

Stop fighting.

There is nothing,
Nothing you can do
No air to breath
No strength to move

Drift.

There is
     nothing
         left.

Safe? They mouth it from the shore.

She's not crying
Or shouting
Or waving her hands
There's no frantic splashing.

A-Little-BitI'm feeling a little bit
Seven-months-gone
And a little bit
Dying-without-you
And I don't want to be alone anymore.

I'm feeling a little bit
I-miss-you.

And I'm tired.

Proper Grown-UpsTime is staying still,
And it always will,
So it seems to you, my friend.
Lifetimes in your mind
Are the greatest kind.
Never let your wide world end.

Treasure ev’rything,
Keep remembering,
Ev’ry feeling, ev’ry day,
Life runs ever on,
And when something’s gone,
It steals part of you away.

Some of it will slip
From your desp’rate grip,
All your world, your invention,
Who you really are.
Do not fling it far,
And don’t embrace pretension.

Heading HomeBitter-boned, I break and crumble to dust
My pockets full of keys to places that no longer exist
An oystershell ashtray full of butts and ashes beside me
Testify to dreams of green hedges and white picket fences

A tapping on the door, a rapping on the wall
Ghosts always like this hour just before dawn
A bird screeches and I wake again to the stinging day
And shufflestep towards home from a thousand worlds away

This is a wonderfully evocative piece with a lot of personality. I would like to read the story it's a reference to-- did you take it down because you want to publish it? What kind of story is it? Also, where did the texture on top of the picture come from?
